This part is gray and is strategically placed throughout different locations along the hose kit providing a tight and strong bond between this collection of parts. When installing the mender nuts on the ends of the various parts they connect you want the twist adapter facing outwards towards the hoses that they are connecting to. This way you can twist the mender nuts clockwise until it is tight, creating the bond needed to keep everything connected.
